Prom king and queen announced on April 13
Prom took place at the Fort Hays State Union’s Black and Gold room on Saturday, April 13 from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
The theme for prom this year was “Arabian Nights.”
The prom queen candidates were seniors Alex Hagerman, Mattie Hutchison, Cordelia Isbell, Kallie Leiker, Savannah Schneider, and Shyann Schumacher. The prom kind candidates were seniors Mason Ibarra, Braiden Meyers, Kreighton Meyers, Creighton Newell, Josh Norris, and Connor Teget.
The winning candidates for this year’s prom were Josh Norris and Alex Hagerman.
“I was kind of shocked and really excited that I won,” Norris said.
Norris enjoyed his time while being a prom candidate.
“The best part was definitely skipping school to go take pictures,” Norris said.
Norris said his senior prom was definitely a good one.
“My favorite part of the dance was just hanging and talking to all of my friends by far,” Norris said.
The junior class assisted in preparing prom. This included decorating, building things for decorations, and setting everything up for prom.
“We started planning in the middle of February, but started making the decorations in the middle of March and put everything up on Friday night,” junior Gavin Manning said.
Manning said he mainly helped build props for prom, such as the prom trees.
The students who set up for prom said they enjoyed their time being productive in helping decorate.
“I thought the theme was a very great choice,” Manning said. “It was exciting getting to make all of the different things for it.”
