Knitting club holds first meeting
The first meeting for the Knitting Club was Friday, Jan. 25.
“Anyone was welcome,” co-sponsor Lisa Renz said. “We want to encourage everyone of all levels to come and participate. We have crochet hooks, knitting needles, yarn and patterns for all levels and all interested.”
The club was born from a class that used to be offered called “Homecrafts.”
“Numerous students enjoyed this class and made all sorts of projects that were simply awesome.” Renz said.
Supplies are provided by the club from the “Homecrafts” class and a grant from Midwest Energy.
“We also will be working on projects to benefit our Hays community including lap blankets for area long-term care facility residents and hats for those undergoing chemotherapy,” Renz said.
The club will most likely meet after school every other Wednesday and will be open to all who have an interest in knitting or crocheting.
“As avid yarn artists, we wanted to share our ideas and experience with those who would like to learn or expand their skills,” Renz said.
