Student Council officers participate in conference
The Student Council Officers spent their Wednesday at a StuCo Conference in Derby. The officers learned a lot about leadership and teamwork.
This was senior Cooper Flores’ fourth year to attend the conference.
“It is such a cool and fun opportunity,” Flores said. “The energy there is so positive. You can’t go anywhere without feeling welcomed. The atmosphere is so light hearted.”
Senior Jeanie Balzer considers the conference a wonderful opportunity to grow as a team with the other officers.
“I loved learning more about Student Council and how to serve the school,” Balzer said.
Senior Tanner Callis attended the conference for the first time this year and he thought it was great.
“I learned that as StuCo leaders, if we are not enthusiastic our student body won’t be,” Callis said.
Senior Keegan Chapman thought the conference was too short, and just a review of the StuCo workshop this summer.
“I learned leadership is more than just getting things done at this conference,” Flores said.
StuCo advisor Alicia Brungardt was impressed by the student population at the conference.
“There was not an unmotivated person in that room,” Brungardt said. “It was nice to see so many people excited to be there and excited to be participating.”
