Senior spends free time coding

While most people merely use computers for internet browsing, others enjoy delving deeper into the creation and production of web pages and games. Senior Aidan Lawson spends his time coding and has become well-versed in it.

“Essentially, I write code and modify games, whether it be through the programming, or the design visually, audio as well,” Lawson said.

Lawson began coding about 5 years ago.

“I first started doing this when I was in the seventh grade, and I’ve loved it ever since,” Lawson said.

Although he started coding in the seventh grade, his interest spans back longer.

“I have been interested in this for as long I can remember,” Lawson said. “Just watching my dad play games when I was younger made me love them and I’ve passionately been following it ever since.”

Lawson has recently been using his skills to earn some money.

“I made a bit of cash off of it for a while, as I used to commission mods for people,” Lawson said. “Basically they’d ask me what they wanted to be done with the game and sometimes I could meet their requests.”

Lawson believes coding could possibly be an ideal job.

“It’s definitely a fun career, for me that is,” Lawson said. “It’s certainly not for everyone, as it can be very irritating and gratification isn’t quite instant.”
