P.E. credits given to marching band

Anyone who is involved in band receives P.E. credits for the class. Band practices before school multiple times a week and have class during maroon days.

“Marching band is really hard,” senior Will Martin said. “When I was in it, I just had a clarinet and it was so tiring.”

Some students agree that the band works hard for their credits but think other classes should get it too.

“I think Chamber Singers should get P.E. credits,” sophomore Madison Karlin said. “We dance every practice and we’re always sweating.”

Most agree that band works extremely hard and don’t question the P.E. credits they receive.

“I think band deserves every credit they get,” junior Chailynn Sennett said. “It looks really hard.”

Every student involved in band is required to march and it is a part of their grade. Everything they do is often critiqued down to the way they hold their instruments.

“There is so much detail put into marching,” sophomore Gabby Taliaferro said.

On top of the concerts in which music classes perform, band also goes to multiple contests and they perform at parades and games. They extensively rehearse formations and the songs they play.

“We work really hard and we practice so much,” sophomore Abby Kennemer.
