Meningitis attacks Hays
Meningitis is an acute inflammation of the meninges which are the membranes covering the spinal cord and brain. It is not contagious and has recently been going around Hays. This illness can result in extreme measures even death.
“There are two types of meningitis,” school Nurse Misty Garrison said, “The ones reported in our school district have been viral meningitis.”
Viral meningitis is often caused certain viruses, such as the common stomach viruses, some are more likely to cause meningitis then others. This disease first appeared at the middle school and quickly spread to the high school. There have been many confirmed reports of viral meningitis.
“We have had no confirmed reports for bacterial meningitis which is very contagious,” said Garrison.
It cannot be spread from person to person. Some symptoms include; high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, vomiting, seizures, sensitivity to light and many more. All students who were reported are classified.

I am so glad I don’t have Meningitis. However, I do feel terribly sorry for the student who do have this.
