Programs help create high school memories

The year is wrapping up with seniors graduating, students advancing into the next grade and teachers finishing up their curriculum. There were many times when memories were created that will last for a long time.

School provides lots of opportunities to create lasting memories with students, teachers, coaches and others. With the year ending, some students gave insight as to what are some of their fondest memories.

One of the highlights the school promotes each year is the Musical. Many students join Musical and come out with good experiences that will equip them for life.

“My favorite experience from this year so far is most likely the musical, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,'” freshman Dawson Rooney said. “I really enjoyed the community the musical has, and it was a unique experience.”

Alongside the Musical is the whole music program in general. Students joined choir, Chamber Singers, band and orchestra. Each of these programs provide the opportunity to perform and learn how to get better in whatever music they’re interested in, along with meeting and socializing with people who have similar interests.

Freshman Gracie Tomlinson enjoyed being a part of the music program this year and the ability to perform at school concerts.

“They really taught me how to work together,” Tomlinson said.

Another activity that students participate in is sports. There are many different sports to be a part of which helps give students more opportunities to pursue their own goals and interests.

While it gives students the opportunity to become stronger and faster physically, it also give the opportunity to get to know the people on their team and form friendships.

Sophomore Kaely McKinney said that she enjoyed cheerleading the most.

“I absolutely loved cheering at all of the basketball games and the football games,” McKinney said. “The bus rides with the other cheerleaders were fun and getting to know everyone that was cheering was a great experience. I am typically a very shy person so having people to talk to really helped with that experience as well.”

Baseball is one of the many sports the school offers and freshman Tanner Eiland said he felt starting baseball was the biggest highlight for him this year.

“Most of the people aren’t as bad as others say, and the coaches aren’t the worst either,” Eiland said.

This year many students became more educated and experienced in not only their classes, but also their own life in general. Each year, even each day, is the time to grow as an individual and become wiser in decisions that will prepare each individual for the future.

But through the hard work of education, there’s a time to create bonds and friendships with each other, and those memories may last a long time.

“Some things you just can’t do alone,” Tomlinson said.
