The choirs, orchestra and band performed at State Large Group contest in Colby on April 16. Students travelled to Colby High School at 8 a.m. and spent the day performing and watching other groups’ performances. Each group performed at an assigned time in front of three judges.

Chamber singers, orchestra, concert choir and band all received straight ones from their judges, therefore giving them all an overall score of one.

“Hays High was a class act on and off of the stage,” choir director Johnny Matlock said. “We were well-rehearsed, and truly gave a very good performance.”
