Eighth grade visits high school

On Feb. 19, Hays Middle School eighth graders came and toured the high school. Leadership team members showed the students around and helped them figure out what kind of classes to take next year.
Leadership team member Haley George was excited for the visitation.
“My sister was in my group,” George said. “I remember being excited as an eighth grader.”
Leadership team member Amber Klaus thinks the visitation will be very helpful for the eighth graders.
“Seeing Hays High for the first time will hopefully get them ready for the transition and take away some fear for next year,” Klaus said. “I showed them as much as I could and told them everything that I’ve learned while I’ve been here, and tried to get them involved.”
Eighth grader Hannah McGuire enjoyed being shown around, and is excited for the new class options next year.
Eighth grader William Sennet had a good time seeing everything at the high school, and likes the classes.
Counselor Sherri Matlock thinks the eighth grade visitation went very well.
“Leadership Team members did an awesome job of touring the students, giving them pre-enrollment information and answering questions about high school life,” Matlock said. “They will be helping us enter the requests into Powerschool in a couple of weeks when we go to Hays Middle school.”
On Feb. 23, eighth grade parents will be visiting with counselors and administration about pre-enrollment.
