Mullet mania pins wrestling team

A popular fad has made its way back into the halls of school this year. Wrestlers senior Tathan Burkhart, junior Braydon Delzeit and sophomore Austin Dale have been wearing mullets as their choice of fashion statement.

Opinions have been flying through the halls from observant students.

“I think it’s pretty cool to bring mullets back,” sophomore Grant Coffman said. “Do what you want to do.”

Other students aren’t quite as fond of the idea.

“Too many people this year are trying to do weird hairstyles,” senior Andrew McGinnis said. “The mullets need to grow out more before they can look good, too.”

Burkhart came up with the idea to cut his hair into a mullet.

“The other guys in wrestling wanted to cut their hair as well,” said Burkhart. “I just thought it would be cool for wrestling. I think that I can pull it off pretty well, so I like the style on me.”

Delzeit backs up his teammate’s statement.

“It’s all for fun,” said Delzeit. “I feel like the 80s called and asked for us to, personally, bring it back. I’m honored to. My mullet has grown on me.”

The students pursuing the fad are proud of their style, no matter what the school has to say.

“There have been a lot of people that have said they like it,” said Burkhart. “Still, there have been a few people who don’t like it.”

The boys believe they are capable of making their own style choices.

“Our coaches give us a lot flack about the hair,” said Burkhart. “At the end of the day it is our decision, and we like it. That’s all that matters.”
