Students Reflect on Musical
This past weekend, Hays High hosted the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Students began auditions and rehearsals at the beginning of the school year and have worked their way up to Nov. 13.
“It was really good,” senior Conrad Hoffman said. “But Sunday was the best performance day because by then we had the most practice.”
Many people filed in to watch what the students had been preparing for months. Each night, from Nov. 10 to Nov. 16, around 600 people attended.
“Total, we had around 1800 people attended the musical,” Johnny Matlock said. “Their performance overall was outstanding and I loved it.”
Senior students ended their musical year reflecting on their overall experience over their four years they’ve been in musical. With musical coming to a close, the seniors have many feelings about their last musical.
“It’s a chapter of my life that’s over,” senior Quinlan Brungart said. “One page closes and another opens.”
For some people it’s a melancholy feeling, a little sad that the experience is over.
“It’s really bittersweet,” senior Shelbie Berens said. “It’s kind of sad but you realize you’re moving on to a new chapter in your life. I’ll always have those experiences carry with me throughout my life.”
For seniors, these memories will be with them as they move on with life and for the rest of the students, it’s preparation for next year’s musical.
“I think it went really well,” freshman Ryan Will said. “It was fun and a great experience for me.”
