The Difference Between Organic and Regular
“You are what you eat,” is typically a general quote that is said all around the country. But some people may not know what’s in their food. Healthy food seems to be the area that people may not know that much about, specifically organic food. When you go to the store, typically there are two types of produce: regular and organic.
“Organic food is fresh food and regular is chemically processed,” said senior Emily McPherson.
Senior Shayla Cochran also has an idea as to what the difference is between the two.
“An organic apple has no dyes, chemicals, and tends to be a bit smaller than some regular apples. Regular apples are sometimes dyed, contain chemicals to make them ripen faster and last longer on shelves, and some chemicals even make them bigger.”
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, organic food is food that keeps natural nutrients, has no genetically modified ingredients, allows animals to go outside so they can be in a natural environment, and supports animal health welfare. They also state that in 2012 organic food took a total of about 4 percent of bought food.
Organic food may be healthier, but the cost may be one of the reasons people may not eat as much of it.
“There’s a cost difference between the regular produce provided and the organic, which may make people not want to buy it,” said sophomore Mkilar Otte.
But a positive reason for people to want to eat it is because it’s a new concept, so it has become a health trend.
“People eat it for a little bit of 2 reasons: Some eat organic food because they think it’s truly healthier, bit it becomes a trend because it’s an option that’s different,” said senior Dylan Schmitt.
Whatever the reason for eating it or not, it’s a healthy option for people to have and organic food intake or trend may grow as the years come.
“People are organic freaks,” said Mikey Ploutz.

Well i liked the topic at hand and you actually included the cost difference which made me happy. Though other than that i felt like this was lacking. You gave off the definition of the subject, spewed off some random information from the health department, threw in an opinion that was not backed up with any facts, and then had some peoples input. This subject could’ve had a very good output but this wasn’t that great. Would’ve made a good opinion had you backed up the whole Organic is Healthier thing with actual information. I am rather disappointed with this article, when i saw the name i thought it’d be worth the read but it’s just sloppy. I recommend researching and reviewing for the next article, make sure you are actually getting information out there. Good luck on your future ones though.

I do see your points and they are valid, so I thank you for critiquing this. This was something that was a little difficult to write about because not many people really know or talk about it, so it was difficult to find good information.
