Dance team too short of members
The dance team was canceled for this fall, and there is still discussion on whether or not it will start again.
Unfortunately, due to numbers, they couldn’t have a team for the football season.
“It’s disappointing not many people wanted to go out for the dance team,” junior Emily Prine said.
Many former dance team members were very disappointed that they can’t perform at the football games this year. They think that the even though the cheerleaders do a great job there’s something special about a dance team that adds something to the football season.
“Half-time performances at the football games were always so much fun,” junior Kinsey Ackerman said. “Also, bonding with the team at practice and before performances was always a great time.”
Since the dance team was canceled the girls had to find new things to do this fall. Prine joined the golf team, Ackerman joined the flag team and is focusing more on music.
Junior Isabelle Lee was also a former dance team member.
“I’m working at the Hays Public Library now,” Lee said. “But I’m still dance outside of school, I spend a lot of my time dancing at the studio.”
Although not enough girls went out for the dance team for football season the girls hope that more people will go out for the basketball season dance team.
