The Book Club plans to restart
The Book Club is starting back up on Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. in the HHS library, ending the hiatus that started fall semester.
They will meet once a month to discuss the books they chose to read.
“This month, we’re going to start reading the book The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Wallls,” Librarian Elizabeth Harris said. “There was a meeting during seminar where interested students choose the book off a list.”
The Glass Castle is a memoir about Walls’ and her siblings’ poverty unconventional, poverty stricken upbringing at the hands of their deeply dysfunctional parents.
A couple of interested students chose it during a seminar meeting for the Book Club.
“This is truly a wonderful book,” Harris said. “I was really happy when they chose it.”
Students had also brought up other books they were interested in reading and Harris believes they will get to some of them later in the year.
“The book club ended last year because people were just too busy,” Harris said. “But this year someone asked me to start it up again and a couple of students have already expressed their interest.”
Harris has high hopes for the Book Club this year and hopes more students will join.
“This is a great activity for those who love to read and doesn’t have a sport or anything to go to after school,” Harris said.
