DECA students organize Promapalooza dress drive

Promapalooza is a public relations event that will take place on Jan. 25 from 1-4 p.m. at the Hays Recreation Commission’s Dale and Marcy Allenbaugh room, located on 1110 Canterbury.

This event provides an opportunity for teen girls in the community to donate or shop for gently used formal dresses at prices ranging from 25 to 50 dollars.

Gently used formal dresses that people no longer need or use can be dropped off at either of the Vine Street or 8th Street Master Cleaner locations in hays.

Juniors Britney Werth and Kirsten Ellard are working with DECA to make this event possible.

“This event is mainly to help raise awareness towards eating disorders in teens,” Werth said. “I think people tend to overlook the importance of them.”

All proceeds will be donated to the Eating Disorder Coalition. Funds will be used to lobby government for support of eating disorder prevention programs in schools.

“Participants not only get to help the cause,” Werth said. “But girls can also get a formal dress for a low price.”
