Some students eager to leave hometown
The future can be a scary thing for some. For others, the future means opportunity and freedom. One of the most debated topics among students is that of whether their future will be in their hometown or if they want to get away.
Many students are eager to leave Hays and go to college or build a family somewhere else.
“People want more opportunities that Hays doesn’t offer,” senior Audrey Bieker said. “Not everyone wants to live in a small town their whole life, so they go off to find something new, a new adventure.”
Freshman Rhian Patterson doesn’t wish to spend her life in her hometown.
“I want to leave Hays someday in the future just because I want to explore the world,” Patterson said. “But I do want to stay and go to college at Fort Hays State University.”
Junior Quin Brungardt has a different opinion. Brungardt believes he will return to Hays even if he leaves.
“I want to come back to town eventually because it is a good town to raise a family in,” Brungardt said.
