Indian boys basketball defeats Liberal, 66-32

After an 9-6 start to the season, the Hays High School varsity boys basketball team visited the Liberal Redskins on Feb. 13.

Coming off a tough loss to McPherson at home on Feb. 6, the Indians looked to reach double-digit wins for the fifth straight season.

Liberal came into the game with a 5-12 record on the season, heavily favoring Hays for the second time meeting this season. On Dec. 22, the Indians defeated the Redskins at home, 61-26.

During the first quarter, the Indians came out storming with a 21-11 lead. After a small rebuttal from the Redskins, the Indians extended their lead to win at the half, 39-16.

Hays continued their dominance to score more than double of Liberal’s points at the end of the third, 59-26. The Indians took the victory 66-32, improving their record to 10-6 on the season.

The Indians will face off against the 14-2 Abilene Cowboys at home on Feb. 13.
