For the girls, in the Girls Prairie Classic, the team took first. Senior Lexi Burton and junior Tionna Napue placed first in their respective weight classes. Hays also had senior Addison Otte, junior Ava Ruiz, freshman Shea Augustine, freshman Timber Lovewell and freshman Madison Polson earning silver. In third place were senior Lexi Barnett, senior Katie Gutierrez, sophomore Alyssa Harding and freshman Keyla Macias. And, in fourth place were sophomore Audrey Guiterrez, sophomore Reese Vehige, freshman Kenlee Vehige and freshman Crystal Walters.

In the Bob Kuhn Classic, the boys team took third place. Helping lead Hays was senior Harley Zimmerman in first place, senior Elijah McCullough in second place and junior Dalton Meyers in third place. Senior Tacoma Augustine took fifth, and senior Will Linenberger and senior Corbin Luck finished sixth.

“The biggest challenge that I had to overcome at the Bob Kuhn Classic was fighting off my back in the second period of my semi-final match and then dominating my opponent in the third period to qualify for the finals,” McCullough said.
