On Sept. 23, the varsity girls tennis team competed in the Garden City Invitational.

The lady Indians took seventh overall out of 27 teams. Playing singles were juniors Maycie Holdeman and junior Isabelle Jones, and playing doubles were seniors Kinlee May and Jaiden Pfannenstiel and juniors Kaelin Maier and Alyse Zimmerman.

Individual results are as follows:

Singles No. 1: Maycie Holdeman, 2-2 for 25th place

Singles No. 2: Isabelle Jones, 3-2 for 18th place

Doubles No. 1: Kaelin Maier/Alyse Zimmerman, 4-1 for fifth place

Doubles No. 2: Kinlee May/Jaiden Pfannenstiel, 3-2 for seventh place

“The doubles played very well overall,” coach Kayla Brown said. “They have improved throughout the season on being aggressive and finding better shots to take. However, we can always improve by making less errors and winning the crucial points in the match. Singles players are continuously working on being more consistent and having the ability to withstand longer rallies.”
