The Hays High girls golf team kicked off their season at its home course on Monday, Aug. 28.
The girls won the tournament with a score of 320, 47 strokes under second-place Great Bend.
Next, the girls competed on Thursday, Sept. 7 in Dodge City, placing second with a score of 355.
Most recently, the girls traveled to Liberal on Tuesday, Sept. 12 and played an 18-hole course. The par for the course was 72.
The girls had six players that placed in the Top 10. Senior Abbie Norris and junior Jaycee Oakley tied for first place, both with a score of 78. Senior Evyn Cox placed fourth with a score of 83, senior Lily Garrison placed fifth with a score of 86, junior Liz Dreiling placed eighth with a score of 95 and senior Ashlynn Banker placed ninth with a score of 96.
As a team, the girls placed first overall, with a total of 325. Behind them was Garden City with a total of 368.
The varsity girls will compete next at Salina South on Monday, Sept. 18.
“I was super excited for this year,” Banker said. “I think we are a pretty good group of girls, and I wouldn’t want to play with anyone else for my last year.”
