Boys basketball continues strong push to end of season

The Hays High boys basketball team travelled to Abilene on Tuesday, Feb. 14 and to Garden City on Friday, Feb. 17.

Against Abilene, the boys ended up getting a commanding 60-44 win over the Cowboys. Senior Chason VanDerWege led the way with 21 points for the Indians.

In the boys’ next game against Garden City, a close-fought game ended with a 56-48 loss to the No. 4 6A Garden City Buffaloes. Again, VanDerWege led the way with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Indians.

Hays heads back out on the road to face the Dodge City Red Demons on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The Indians are 10-8 so far with a 3-3 record in conference play.
