Junior Harley Zimmerman wrestles his Garden City opponent on Feb. 2

On Thursday, Feb. 2, both the boys and girls wrestling teams had duels against Garden City, with neither group having the best outcome.

The boys finished with Hays having 15 points while Garden City had 49 points. However, there were multiple boys who won their matches, with those being senior Tathan Lovewell who scored three points, junior Elijah McCullough who scored three points, junior Harley Zimmerman who scored three points and sophomore Dalton Meyers who scored six points.

The girls also finished with Hays having 15 points while Garden City had 46. Multiple girls won their duels, with those being senior Sarah Zimmerman who scored six points, junior Lexi Burton who scored three points and freshman Alyssa Harding who scored six points.

The night was also Senior Night for the Indian wrestlers, with the seniors being recognized, including Adin Flock, Braxton Fritzler, Lovewell, Quinton McGuire, Will Nichols, Cyrus Vajnar and Sarah Zimmerman.

“Garden City wins are hard to come by, however, we went in and got a few, so I’m happy with that outcome,” assistant coach Dan Dickerson said.
