On Jan. 31, the Hays High lady Indians basketball team traveled to Scott City to face a tough team with a good lineup.

The lady Indians did not let that affect them, and they went on to win the game, 46-32. All teams, including varsity, junior varsity and C team were victorious over the Beavers.

The Indians played again on Friday, Feb. 3, facing Dodge City.

The varsity fell just short of winning the game with a score of 37-36, while the JV and C teams managed to win their games.

“I think the most difficult part of playing against Dodge City is that they are always well coached and prepared for anything we might do,” assistant coach Haley Wolf said. “They are always tough and physical, and we always have to play well to beat them. Unfortunately, we did not play well enough last Friday to beat a good Dodge City team.”

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the lady Indians traveled to McPherson to challenge the Bullpups, who were ranked second in Class 4A. Hays High fell on the road by a score of 52-34, bringing them to a 9-6 record going into Friday, Feb. 10’s game against Liberal for Indian Call night.
