Wrestling teams compete in home tournaments
Both the girls and the boys wrestling teams have competed in home tournaments throughout January.
On Saturday, Jan. 14, the girls competed in the Junior Prairie Classic, taking first overall in the tournament with multiple girls earning podium places in their weight classes.
At 105 lbs., junior Emily Hernandez took third; at 110, senior Sarah Zimmerman took first; at 115, sophomore Tionna Napue took second; at 120, junior Addison Otte took second and freshman Lanie Becker took third; at 130, junior Katie Gutierrez took third; and at 135, junior Lexi Burton took second and sophomore Moriah Hallam took third.
Others participating included sophomores Ava Ruiz and Jaxxy Smith and freshmen Lexi Barnett, Emily Casas, Kaylee Dinkel, Audrey Gutierrez, Alyssa Harding, Addison Neuburger, Kate Scoby, Jaylee Summers and Reese Vehige.
On Jan. 20-21, the boys wrestled in the annual Bob Kuhn Invitational.
“I think we have had a good season so far, and I was excited for the meet [Bob Kuhn Invitational],” sophomore Boston Brungardt said.
