The Hays High lady Indian volleyball team took on the Manhattan Indians and the Junction City Blue Jays on Sept. 27. Hays came into the tournament with a record of 10-11.
In the first set of the game against Manhattan, Hays came out strong in a back-and-forth battle between the two, with Hays winning the first set, 35-33. In the second set, however, Manhattan retaliated, winning 25-19. In the third and final set of the match, Manhattan came out with the victory as they beat Hays, 25-16.
In the second match of the day against Junction City, the lady Indians struggled in the first set, losing to the Blue Jays by a close score of 23-25. The lady Indians showed persistence, though, striking back in the second set to win, 25-23. After two close sets, the lady Indians wanted to close the night out strong. In a long series of intense battle, the lady Indians came out as the victor in a win of 30-28.
After the tournament, Hays sat at a record of 11-12, and they played Abilene, Salina South and Norton on Sept. 29.
