Lady Indians play in tournament on Sept. 15
The Hays High lady Indians volleyball team battled against the Pratt Greenbacks, Garden City Buffaloes and the Ulysses Tigers on Sept. 15. The lady Indians entered the tournament with a record of 6-6.
Against the Pratt Greenbacks, the lady Indians came off to a rough start, losing the first set, 18-25. In the second set, Hays stormed back and tied the series with a win of 25-22. After a close third set, the lady Indians fell short of a victory, losing the series 1-2 after a third set score of 21-25.
The lady Indians then faced off against the Garden City Buffaloes, in which they lost the first set, 17-25. After trying to come back, Hays fell short again in the series, losing 21-25, getting swept in the series.
In Hays’s last matchup of the day, they played the Ulysses Tigers. In the first set, the two teams dueled it out, and Hays ultimately won, 29-27. However, in the second set, the Tigers fought back and tied the series after winning the set, 25-18. Winless on the day, Hays hoped to end it off strong, and they did. The lady Indians won the series 2-1, after winning the third set, 25-18.
The lady Indians’ record moved to 7-8, and they played Philipsburg and Thomas More Prep-Marian (TMP) on Sept. 22.
