On Saturday, October 1st Hays High cross country competed in the Junction City meet. Girls XC placed second overall with a final score of forty-three. Boys XC finished third overall with a total of seventy-seven points.
The first to cross the finish line for Hays’ girls was junior Arely Maldonado. Maldonado placed sixth overall with a time of 21:12:00. Behind her, junior Mika Zimmerman finished eleventh overall with a time of 21:51:00.
Junior Elijah McCullough finished first for Hays High. He placed fourth overall with a finishing time of 18:11:00. The second to cross the finish line for Hays was sophomore Taevian Maupin with a time of 18:43:00 and a tenth-place finish.
“The course was fairly hard, but everyone competed and did it well,” said junior Brenlynn Albers.
