Cross country teams compete at Dodge City
On Thursday, Sept. 15, the Hays High cross country team competed in Dodge City. Hays placed second for the girls, with a total of 43 points. Hays boys placed fourth with a total of 96 points.
The first to cross the finish line for Hays girls was junior Arely Maldonado with a time of 22:27:00. She placed fifth overall. Soon after her, junior Brynn Kinderknecht finished the race at seventh place with a time of 22:38:00. Both girls were medalists.
For the boys, sophomore Taevian Maupin finished first with a time of 18:45:00. He placed 14th overall. Following him, junior Elijah McCullough finished the race at 18th place with a time of 19:12:00.
“I think we all did really good, especially for it being a course with a lot of hills. Everyone finished with good placing. I was also really proud with how I did,” says Maldonado
“My favorite part of cross country is running with friends and cheering on the team,” says Muehleisen.
