Boys tennis team places second in Western Athletic Conference

Sophomore Xavier Catura serves the ball while playing in No. 2 Singles at Fort Hays State University’s tennis courts.

On May 3, Hays High hosted the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) meet at the Fort Hays State University tennis courts, tying for second overall with Dodge City.

Singles competed well with sophomores Xavier Catura and Colin Clark earning medals. Catura placed second in No. 2 Singles with a record of 3-1 while Clark placed third in No. 1 Singles with a record of 1-2.

Doubles also earned medals with sophomores Kaiden Bunger and Carsen Riat placing second in No. 2 Doubles with a record of 3-1. Sophomore Henry Fitzthum and senior Ryan Schuckman placed fourth in No. 1 Doubles with a record of 1-3.

Garden City won WAC, Hays and Dodge City tied for second, Liberal placed fourth and Great Bend finished in fifth.
