Lady Indians fall to Dodge City by buzzer beater

Just a few short weeks ago, the lady Indians were able to capture a win over the Dodge City Red Demons by a buzzer beater shot, but on Feb. 22, the roles would reverse, with a buzzer beater shot being made by Dodge City to win, 41-40.

In the first quarter, the Indians scored seven points, holding Dodge to just one point.

The second quarter was filled with the Red Demons working on recovering the points that they needed to close the gap within the scores, but they were only able to make up 18, making the score at halftime 20-18 in favor of the Indians.

Coming out of halftime, the Red Demons took control, leading throughout the rest of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was back and forth, with many lead changes and possessions, but with just a few seconds remaining, the ball was knocked out of bounds, giving Dodge City the possession, and this led to their final basket, making the final score 41-40.

Seniors Jersey Johnson and Aleyia Ruder both scored nine points throughout the game to lead the Indians.

The Indians are now 12-7 on the year and are waiting to find out who and where they will play for the first round of substate.
