Wrestling competes in Garden City at Rocky Welton Invitational

Varsity Boys Wrestling takes 11th place at the 64th annual Rocky Welton Invitational in Garden City.

On Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29, the varsity boys wrestling team competed in the 64th annual Rocky Welton tournament hosted in Garden City. Together the team scored 108.0 points, putting Hays in 11th place out of 33 teams.

Individual results were as follows:

106 lbs. Elijah McCullough (20-11) placed 14th and scored 5.5 team points.

113 lbs. Tacoma Augustine (23-11) placed 13th and scored 4.0 team points.

132 lbs. Harley Zimmerman (31-2) placed second and scored 27.5 team points.

145 lbs. Dalton Meyers (21-13) placed 10th and scored 11.0 team points.

160 lbs. Dalton Dale (17-12) placed 14th and scored 7.0 team points.

220 lbs. Gavin Meyers (27-0) placed first and scored 32.0 team points.

285 lbs. Gavin Nutting (32-1) placed third and scored 22.0 team points.
