Lady Indians capture a win over the Panthers
On Jan. 11, the lady Indian basketball team hosted its rival, the Great Bend Panthers, and won 47-33.
The first two quarters were filled with five lead changes and a back-and-forth scoring rally from both teams. The Indians captured the largest lead of the night with an 13-2 run at the end of the first quarter and into the second quarter.
Going into halftime, the Indians kept the lead, with the score being 22-20.
All but 40 seconds of the second half belonged to the Indians, with the Indians never giving up a scoring gap closer than eight points to close out the game with a win, 47-33.
Freshman Molly Martin led the team with 11 points on the night, with seven other team members scoring as well.
The Indians are now 4-4 on the year and are 1-3 in Western Athletic Conference play. They will travel to Garden City on Jan. 14 to play another WAC game against the Buffaloes.
