Indians bring home win from trip to Dodge City

On Oct. 8, the Indian football team traveled to Dodge City for its final game of Western Athletic Conference games and won 39-10.

The game started slowly for the Indians, with their first couple possessions ending in punts, and they fell behind early with Dodge City scoring a touchdown, making the score 7-0.

Senior Jaren Kanak responded just a few short plays later, with a 45-yard rushing touchdown, which was followed by senior Jack Fields’s extra point, tying the score at 7-7.

The Red Demons took the lead after a field goal, making the score 10-7, but this was the last time they led for the rest of the game.

The Indians started scoring and never slowed down. They were able to score on their five next possessions to push the score to 39-10.

Hays is now 5-1 on the year and are 3-1 in WAC games. They will take on Maize South on Oct. 15 for the Indians Homecoming game.
