Indians rebound with big win over Abilene
On Oct. 1, the Indian football team traveled to Abilene and came home with a victory with the final score being 64-7, which ties the Hays High record for most points scored in a game.
The Indians started out strong with a 28-0 score at the end of the first quarter, being able to capitalize on almost every one of their possessions and even forcing the Cowboys to fumble.
The Indians were able to make the scoring deficit larger with a little over seven minutes left in the first half with the score being 42-0.
Three more touchdowns pushed the score to 61-0, and junior Teegan Turnbull made a 20-yard field goal to push the Indians to 64-0.
The Cowboys were able to score a touchdown in the final minutes, but the Indians were able to limit the scoring possessions otherwise.
Senior Roy Moroni had four touchdowns on the night, and sophomore Malik Bah had two touchdowns of his own, followed by sophomore Ben Pfeifer’s first career varsity touchdown.
The Indians are now 4-1 on the season, and they will travel to Dodge City on Oct. 8 to wrap up their Western Athletic Conference games.
