Lady Indians split with Garden City Buffaloes

On April 13, the lady Indians played a double header against the Garden City Buffaloes and split with them, winning with the score of 5-4 and losing with the score of 9-5.

The first victory came in extra innings for the lady Indians, with sophomore Ashlyn Zimmer getting on base with a single, stealing second and then taking third and home on a passed ball.

The Indians started out slow, with no runs being scored in their favor until the bottom of the second inning and then taking the lead 3-2 before the Buffaloes scored two more runs.

Sophomore Morgen Berry hit a single, which scored freshman Dezarae Schmidt, tying the game.

The Indians were not able to score another run in the bottom of the seventh inning, which pushed the game into the extra inning, with Zimmer scoring the final run.

The second game started out in favor of the Indians, with them scoring four runs in the first two innings, and then they were unable to capitalize any farther.

Freshman Aubree Thomas pitched both games and struck out 10 batters and allowed one walk, but gave up 12 hits.

They moved to 3-4 on the season and are 1-4 in Western Athletic Conference play. They will play the Colby Eagles on April 16 at home for another double header.
