Boys basketball place fifth in Hays City Shootout
The Indians finished out the Hays City Shootout with a record of 1-2, losing their second-round match-up 78-56 to Manhattan High School and their third-round to St. Thomas Aquinas 64-48.
Manhattan came out early with a lead in the first quarter leading 19-12 and wouldn’t look back for the rest of the game. Keeping the score just out of reach for the Indians the whole game. The Indians trailed at half-time 31-47, second half was no different for Manhattan extending their lead to 72-47. By the end of the fourth quarter the Indians would finish the game with 56 points to Manhattans 78.
In the third round didn’t seem to be better for the Indians trailing by a manageable 5 point at the end of the first quarter to St. Thomas Aquinas. The Indians kept it close in the second quarter still trailing by five with a score of 32 to 27. The second half, the Indians stayed in the game but couldn’t seem to string enough buckets together to take the lead falling to St. Thomas Aquinas 48 to 61.
The Indians fall to 1-2 on the season and will face off against Colby High School at 8 p.m. at Colby.
