Lady Indian softball sweeps Goodland in season opener
The Hays High School Indian softball team opened their season sweeping Goodland 8-1 the first game and 14-0 in the second game.
In the first game the Indians scored one run in the second inning, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. While the Cowgirls only scored one run in the fifth inning.
Throughout the game, the Indians had 11 hits while the Cowgirls had four and both sides were errorless.
Pitching for the first game was junior Jaysa Wichers, for six innings she had four hits, one run and one error, four walks and 14 strike outs.
In the second game Goodland went scoreless, while the Indians scored five in the first inning, six in the second and three in the fourth inning, ending the game after five innings.
In the second game the Indians had 11 hits and no errors while the Cowgirls had no hits and no errors.
Junior Kaitlyn Brown was pitching for the second game and had no runs, errors, or hits, had two walks, and 10 strike outs.
The Indians are 2-0 to start off their season and will be playing at the Andover Tri on Mar 27.
