Boys soccer team tops Garden City in second matchup

The boys soccer team took down the Garden City Buffaloes 5-3 at home in their second WAC matchup of the season.

The Buffaloes beat the Indians in their first matchup of the season with the Indians losing 5-3 at Garden City.

The Indians scored first with the wind at their backs in the 29th minute netted by senior Zach Wagner and assisted by junior Jacob Maska. Senior Ethan Nunnery tacked on another goal in the 30th minute with a banger from outside the goalie box. Nunnery put another goal on the board for the Indians in the 31st minute making the score 3-0.

Garden City would score their first goal of the game in the 34th minute but the Indians struck back with their fourth goal scored by Maska also in the 34th minute assisted by junior Trey McCrae. The Indians lead going into the second half 4-0.

The Buffaloes worked to mount a comeback in the second half scoring their second goal in the 62nd minute. Senior Erik Kreutzer put a stop to the chance a comeback when scoring in the 64th minute, making the score 5-2. Garden City would score in the 67th minute, but wouldn’t be able to net another goal, ending the game with a score of 5-3.

The Indians move to 7-3 on the season and 2-3 in WAC. The boys soccer team will play at home on Sept. 26 at 4 p.m.
