Girls Golf places second at Salina South in short tournament due to lightning

Junior Emily McGuire tied for 7th place in Salina South on Monday, Sept 19.

The Lady Indian golf team pulled off a second place finish on Sept. 18 at Salina South for the Salina South Invitational. The tournament was cut short due to storms and lightning, forcing the original 18 holes to now be 14 holes.

Senior Karee Dinkel led the Indians in scoring, scoring a total of 59 for a first place finished, followed by junior Emily McGuire with a score of 72 for a tie for 7th place finish, junior Emily George with 79 points for 20th place, and junior Brittani Park with a score of 82 for a tie for 26th place. The four ladies scores were combined to be a total of 292 points, beating third place Maize by 4 points.

Manhattan had a total score of 284, Hays High 292, Maize 296, Derby 301, Hutchinson 312, Great Bend 316, Goddard-Eisenhower 328, Salina Central 329, Newton 337, Salina South 368, and Dodge City 391.

Other varsity players were freshman Sophia Garrison with a score of 82 to tie with Park for 26th place, and junior Molly Eikenberry with a score of 90 to tie for 42nd place.
