Boys soccer struggle in season opener
The boys soccer team started off the season on a rough note against Garden City, losing 5-1 on the road. Garden City scored twice in the first 13 minutes of the game and finished out the half with a 3-0 against the Indians. The Indians were stronger in the first 20 minutes of the second half, until Garden City extended the lead to 4-0. Senior Zachary Wagner broke the possibility of a shut out when he scored in the 63 minute.
In the 66 minute, Indians Coach Silas Hibbs received a red card after a tangle up in the box was not called. After the sending off, Hibbs left the Indians in the hands of coaches Daniel Kelly and Kyle Markovits. In the 67 minute, junior Trey McCrae received a yellow card. Shortly after, junior Jacob Maska also received a yellow card to cautions after fouls were committed.
The boys soccer team will continue their season at 4 p.m. on Aug. 31 at Wichita Classical.
