Indian baseball wins two of four games during Diamond Classic

The Indian baseball team won two out of four games during the Western Diamond Classic last weekend. Their first game was against Life Prep on May 4.

Senior Grant Coffman and sophomores William Sennett and Cody Petersen each scored two runs during the game. Scoring one run each were seniors Jace Armstrong and Tyrone Wynn, juniors Cole Murphy, Dawson Harman and Trey VanPelt and sophomores Treyton Riggs and Cody Petersen.

Wynn, VanPelt and Sennett each had two RBIs. Winning pitcher on the game was Coffman.

The Indians’ second game on May 4 was against rival team Great Bend. The Indians were defeated by a score of 12-8.

Seniors Jace Armstrong and Tyrone Wynn each scored three runs during the game. Sophomore Cody Petersen scored two runs to round out the scoring for the Indians.

Sophomore Treyton Riggs had four RBIs and sophomore Palmer Hutchison had two.

The Indians next played Salina Central on May 5, Salina taking a 8-1 win. Sophomore Cody Petersen scored the only run.

In their final game on May 6, the Indians defeated Goddard Eisenhower 6-2.

Junior Cole Murphy scored two runs during the game. Junior Nicholas Fisher, sophomore Palmer Hutchison and freshmen Hayden Brown and Isaac Smith each scored one run.

Senior Jace Armstrong had two RBIs. Winning pitcher for the Indians was sophomore Treyton Riggs.

The Indians’ next action will be against Andover Central on May 9.
