The two Indian wrestlers who qualified for the state tournament in Salina combined for a 1-4 mark during the weekend tournament in Salina.
220-pounder Trey VanPelt picked up the Indians only win. After an 11-3 loss against Davon Spexarth of Andale, VanPelt came back to win 9-3 in the consolation first round. He beat Chanute’s Qualin Powell to make it to Saturday. VanPelt’s season came to an end after a 3-2 decision against El Dorado’s Cameron Hunt. VanPelt finished his season with a 24-17 season.
152-pounder Conrad Vajnar went 0-2 on Friday. Vanjar lost 5-2 against Tonganoxie’s Caden Searcy. He then lost against Frontenac’s Jordan Ishimura in the first-round consolation match and his season ended at 27-13.
