Girls basketball wins against Dodge City

Sophmore Jaycee Dale and senior Talyn Kleweno fight for the ball in a recent game against the Garden City Buffalos. On Feb. 21, the Indians defeated the Dodge City Red Demons, 42-38.

The girls basketball team beat the Dodge City Red Demons in Dodge on Feb. 21, 42-38.

Coach Kirk Maska said that the team played very well when they got down and played their offense.

The Indians turned the ball over multiple times in the first quarter which then led to a Red Demon 10-3 lead. The Indians would get back within two in the first quarter, making the score 10-8.

The Indians started the second quarter out on a 13-0 run against the Red Demons to build their lead up to 16-10. The score at the end of halftime would be 19-18.

The Game would stay steady throughout the third quarter, but the Red Demons would come up at the end 29-27. Freshman Brooke Denning was a huge asset to the team in the second half, making three three pointers, that would each give the Indians a lead. The Indians pulled off the victory, 42-38.

The Indians are now 11-8 overall, and the Red Demons fell to 6-13 on the season. The Indians will host the Great Bend Panthers at home on Feb. 24.
