Girls basketball defeats Salina South Cougars

Leading the Lady Indians basketball team in a win over the Salina South Cougars was sophomore Jaycee Dale with 12 points.

The first quarter ended with the Indians up over the Cougars 8-6.

The Indians took a 15-0 run in the second quarter, scoring the first eleven of the quarter. The Indian’s biggest lead of the game was 19-6, which happened with 5:02 left in the first half. At the end of the half, the Cougars were within four points of the Indians, 20-16.

The Indians would trail once in the second half to the Cougars 21-20. The Indians went on a 11-0 run that would put them up 31-21.

The Indians would pull of a win 39-27 and improve to 9-4 on the season.

“I was pretty pleased with the way that we played the whole time, Talyn has been struggling and she took it to the basket a couple times and got to the line,” Coach Kirk Maska said. “If we keep doing what we’re supposed to be doing, we’ll snap out of it here sooner or later.”

The Indians will travel to Wichita’s Life Preparatory Academy on Feb. 3 to play the Fire.
