Students take their own time to keep in shape

November 21, 2016

There are many ways to keep in shape such as participating in a sport, taking a weights or P.E. class or working out on your own.

Sophomore Emily George has participated in sports and chose to begin working out on her own time during her freshman year. She works her abs, legs, and arms at her house two to three times a week.

“I don’t really have a goal,” George said. “I just like to feel good about myself.

Senior Rance Drexler is also one who likes to stay in shape for sports he participates in.

“I want to be as healthy as I can be for as long as I can be,” Drexler said. “I want to perform to my top – notch ability and strive even further.”

Drexler works out at the Stockton Gym, Plainville Gym or even his house every day. He finds himself spending a large chunk of time per workout.

“I spend two to three hours working out by the time all stretches, warm-ups, workouts and cool-downs are done,” Drexler said.

While George and Drexler work out at home, many, such as sophomores Landon Crispin, Taron Burkhart and Garret Rymer, workout at Munsch Fitness. While Crispin does it to get a better physique and Burkhart does it to be better, Rymer has different end game.

“I don’t lift for anybody but myself,” Rymer said. “I was planning to do physique competitions over the summer.”
