Girls golf state championship results
The girls golf team competed at the 4A State Championship on Oct. 17 in Hesston. As a team, these received 10th place.
Wichita Trinity took first place with a team score of 328, second place went to Topeka-Hayden with 354 and third place was Larned with 362 points. Other team scores are Andale 365, Garnett-Anderson County 376, Kansas City-Piper 379, Goodland 381, Maize South 382, Clay Center Community 385, Hays 388, Spring Hill 390 and Girard 428.
Individually, senior Katie Brungardt earned the fourth place, all-state medal with a score of 82. Senior Talyn Kleweno scored 94 and tied for 27th place. Other individual scores include sophomore Emily McGuire 103, tied for 52nd place; sophomore Brittani Park 109, tied for 66th place; sophomore Emily George 112, tied for 71st place; Breanna Park 122, tied for 75th place.
“I feel that the girls competed well and I’m very proud of them,” coach Mark Watts said. “Katie Brungardt finished in fourth place which makes her 4A all-state for the third straight year. One of the best Lady Indian golfers ever at Hays High.”
