Indian football falls to Dodge City, 44-14
The Indian football team ended their Western Athletic Conference schedule Oct. 7 with a hard loss to the Dodge City Red Demons, 44-14.
The Red Demons had the advantage when they had scored on all four of their possessions. Dodge City scored in the first, taking the 7-0 lead. The Indians tied the game up with a 31-yard pass from junior Hunter Brown to sophomore Mason Ibarra.
The Red Demons ran the ball into the end zone, breaking the tie and taking the lead, 14-7. The Indians went for a 32-yard field goal but were blocked. Following the blocked field goal, the Red Demons had a 74-yard run taking an even bigger lead, 21-7, followed by a 34-yard field goal, making the score 24-7.
The opposing team scored their fourth touchdown of the night, but missed the extra point, making the score 30-7. The Indians were then able to get a 28-yard pass from Brown to senior Collyn Kreutzer, bringing the score up to 30-14. The Red Demons scored two more times in the game, beating the Indians 44-14. Dodge City scored eight out of the ten possessions of the night.
Hays drops to 0-4 in the conference, but look ahead to Oct. 14, when they start 4A- Division I district play against McPherson.
