Boys and girls cross country both take first at home meet
The cross country team took first place in both boys and girls varsity at their home meet on Sept. 15.
“Our runners ran great,” coach Jerold Harris said. “They competed very well,”
The team brought home 11 medals and the top two team trophies.
Hays scored 27 as a team to take first place. Norton took second place with 30. Other team scores were TMP with 75 and Goodland with 84.
Individually, senior Marie Reveles took first place and senior Alyssa Bryant took 10th place. Other runners who placed were freshman Yesenia Maldonado in 23th, junior Tana Herreman in 36th and Madison Schmidt in 46th.
In boys team standings, Hays took first place with a score of 33 and second place went to TMP, who scored 67. Third place went to Norton with a score of 79. Other team scorces were Colby 105, Hoisington 119, Oakley 145 and Goodland 147.
Individually, senior Ethan Shippy took sixth place, senior Caden Cunningham got 14th, and senior Daniel Lopez took 20th place. Other standings were sophomore Johnny Fuller in 26th, sophomore Cade Swayne in 35th, senior Alex Tinkel in 39th and senior Ransome Drexler in 48th.
