Lady Indians finish soccer season with loss at state quarterfinals
The Lady Indians soccer team ended their season with a loss on May 24. The State Quarterfinal match was won by the Wichita Trinity Academy Knights, 3-2. The Knights started off strong in the match, scoring their first goal within the first six minutes. Within another 20 minutes, the knights had scored another goal, leading 2-0 at halftime.
The Knights were able to score once again in the second half, but their streak ended when Hays stepped up. Junior Sydney Sulzman was able to get the ball in the net, putting Hays on the board. The Lady Indians scored once again when senior Allie Rome was able to convert a penalty kick in the 78th minute.
Hays’ final attempt to score a goal was at a loss, and the game ended with the Knights winning 3-2. The Lady Indians ended their season with an overall record of 11-7, while the Knights go on to play DeSoto in the state semifinals.
