Girls basketball falls to Liberal, 56-51
The Lady Indians hosted the Liberal Redskins on Jan. 8, their first game of the New Year. Liberal took home a win of 56-51.
Hays’ first five points were scored by senior Audra Schmiedler. The Indians then took a 10-4 lead, but Liberal took an 8-point run and a lead of 12-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Liberal scored a total of six points in the second, while the Indians came back with 11 point finishing out the second quarter with a 21-18 halftime lead.
The third quarter played out with a 16-point run by Liberal and a 13-point run by Hays tied the teams 34-34 by the end of the third quarter. Liberal finished the fourth quarter with a 6-2 run and outscored Hays for a 56-51 win.
The Lady Indians will be hosting the game against Great Bend on Jan. 12.
